I was homeless on the streets of Sydney.
My grandparents pulled me back. They gave me structure when I had none — a standard to stand on when I had nothing of my own. That foundation changed everything.
From there, I built. FIFO rotations. Rope access. Working my way up through the ranks until I was leading projects at the highest level — managing work of a standard that earned ExxonMobil's Ruby Award. One of the highest honours the company gives. Earned. Not given.
I've mentored men in PNG — not just into careers in Australia, but mentored them to stand on their own long after I was gone. Coached American Football at the national level. Built a property portfolio. Built businesses.
I've also been the man who had it all on paper and was quietly falling apart on the inside — drifting, drinking, losing the standard I'd fought so hard to build.
